Hello!
Welcome to DAMUN XV! My name is Madhulika Srusti and I am one of the Chairs for the Human Rights Council! I have been in Model UN for three years and this will be my second year chairing at DAMUN! Over the past three years, I've learned so much about Model UN and the culture behind all of the customs. It’s always been so fascinating to see people from across Texas come together and discuss different issues and come up with (slightly concerning) solutions. The collaboration, professionalism, and chaos that comes with DAMUN always seems to surprise me and this year it’s no less. I am so excited to have you all on this committee and can't wait to see all that you can do! Dear Delegates,
I am Poorvaakshith Ravuri from Uplift North Hills Preparatory, and I am honored to be your chair for the United Nations Human Rights Council at DAMUN XV. This is my second year as a member of Model UN, but it is my first time chairing. Over the past two years, I have learned and adapted to the procedures of the UN assembly. Initially, I found it intimidating because I didn’t have a clear understanding of MUN etiquette. Here is some advice: it is helpful to know the structure and functions of the United Nations, including the roles of various committees and key international protocols. Understanding the rules of procedure and how to negotiate resolutions is crucial. Familiarity with current global issues and the foreign policies of the country you are representing will enhance your ability to speak and collaborate effectively.
