LETTERS FROM THE CHAIRS

Hello everyone and welcome to DAMUN XIV!

My name is Lipika Rallapalli and I am so excited to be chairing Crisis this year! I’m currently a senior at Uplift North Hills and this is my fourth year in Model UN and my second year chairing. This year's Crisis is centered around the popular animated show Miraculous: The Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir and though you do not need to watch the show to be successful in committee I would still recommend it regardless just because its an amazing show. Though it may be a simple animated show, we have meticulously planned out each character's arc, powers, motivations, and agendas to make the committee as high-stakes as possible. Here at DAMUN, there are assassinations (France dying from a baguette bomb), betrayals, the dead coming back to life, and ghosts. The fate of your character relies on your hands so get as creative as you can. Feel free to reach out with any questions about position papers, directives, if you have a made-up character you would like more insight on, or even the events of the show. Hello!

My name is Karuna, and I am a senior who participated in DAMUN for the past three years. I am so excited for this opportunity to chair this committee and meet all of you. Crisis is such a fun committee, so I know you will have a great time. There are many resources that you can use to understand your character’s identity and the dynamics of this story. The possibilities of the profile you make for your character are endless so have fun with constructing your ideas. Just like the characters in the show, you may come up with manipulative strategies to overcome others or work with others to ensure your motives are achieved. I would love to see how to use your character to shift the solution in your favor. Miraculous: The Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir is an amazing story that showcases trust and friendship, so I hope I get to embody these motifs and build connections with you.
