A letter from the executive:

Dear honorable Delegates, Advisors, and Friends of DAMUN,

It is with great excitement and honor that I welcome you all to the sixteenth session of the Dallas Area Model United Nations Conference. Whether you are stepping into committee for the very first time or returning as a seasoned delegate, this conference offers a place for everyone to grow, challenge themselves, and experience the spirit of diplomacy in action.

Over the past four years in Model UN, and three in leadership, I’ve had the privilege of growing alongside this club. I began as a girl passionate about understanding the world yet too shy to raise her placard. Now, I stand more confident and knowledgeable, not only speaking up but also encouraging others to find their voices through debate, collaboration, and creativity. This conference is a reflection of that journey, being a space where everyone can step outside their comfort zone and thrive.

This year, we’re especially proud of the exciting lineup of committees our team has prepared. From addressing serious global issues like child marriage in the Human Rights Council to diving into the whimsical world of How to Train Your Dragon, there is truly something for every delegate to enjoy. Each committee challenges you to think critically, advocate passionately, and collaborate meaningfully, all while exploring diverse perspectives.
We’ve also added something fun and new: the Gossip Box! Delegates can write funny comments, clever observations, or kind compliments about others in committee, making the experience even more lively and memorable. It’s a small addition, but one that captures the spirit of MUN, which is hard work mixed with fun, camaraderie, and connection.

Last but not least, our chairs and secretariat have worked tirelessly to prepare resources, background guides, and innovative committee topics to ensure you have everything you need to succeed. They’re here to support you, so don’t hesitate to reach out if you need guidance or encouragement.

I cannot wait to see the passion, creativity, and diplomacy that each of you will bring to the table. Let’s not only make this conference unforgettable, but also DAMUNate it!
